Our Life and Will

February 29th, 2012 by Scott Hall

When we invite God into our life, and ask HIM to take control of our "life and will," we start on the journey to become the person that we were meant to be. For it is written; "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." ( 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 )

Journey

February 22nd, 2012 by Scott Hall

As I write this I am sitting in a motel room in Kansas City. I just attended the funeral of Rev. Steve Shearer, a seminary classmate. There were six of us in seminary who were pretty tight. Two of them we no longer know where they are, three remain in ministry, and now one has earned his eternal glory. Steve was a high school football champion and a big bear of a person. He had a great laugh and loved people as he loved the Lord. Steve well understood living sacrificially for the Lord and for others-so very Christ-like. His witness was simple and direct and touched many lives. I am thankful to have called Steve a friend.

One thing given equally to every person, rich or poor - is time. In 2011, each of us lived 365 days, 8,760 hours and 525,600 minutes. How did you spend it? Reflecting over 2011, I am astounded how quickly the year seemed to pass. And looking back over it has caused me to ask, am I really carefully spending my time…the one commodity I "spend", that I can never buy back? All ready the first month of this new year has passed and I'm think about how I spent it.

Make Disciples

February 1st, 2012 by Scott Hall

Colonel G.W. Goethals, the man responsible for the completion of the Panama Canal, had major problems with the climate, disease and the geography as it was being built. If that wasn't enough to deal with, he had an even bigger problem. It was the growing criticism back home from those who predicted he'd never finish the project and had opinions about how to do it better.
