Week 6: Day 1 - Sunday (February 3, 2019)

1) Read Matthew 9: 27-38

Healing of two blind men

27As Jesus departed, two blind men followed him, crying out, "Show us mercy, Son of David."28When he came into the house, the blind men approached him. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe I can do this?""Yes, Lord," they replied.29Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, "It will happen for you just as you have believed." 30Their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly warned them, "Make sure nobody knows about this." 31But they went out and spread the word about him throughout that whole region.

Healing of a man unable to speak

32As they were leaving, people brought to him a man who was demon-possessed and unable to speak. 33When Jesus had thrown out the demon, the man who couldn’t speak began to talk. The crowds were amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."34But the Pharisees said, "He throws out demons with the authority of the ruler of demons."

Compassion

35Jesus traveled among all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, announcing the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. 36Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then he said to his disciples, "The size of the harvest is bigger than you can imagine, but there are few workers. 38 Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out workers for his harvest."
