Meet Rev. Dr. Julie Strassman
Director of The Listening Place
Julie Strassman has more titles than degrees and that’s saying a lot. She’s manager of support services with Bethesda Hospice Care, a provisional United Methodist Deacon, an adjunct professor at Eden Theological Seminary, and a trained end-of-life doula.
She is also director of The Listening Place, a weekly walk-in grief support ministry Webster Hills created in 2022. "I love supporting an incredible group of compassionate listeners from WHUMC in caring for those who are grieving.”
A native of nearby Alton, IL, Julie earned her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Eden. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA degree in History from the University of Missouri-St. Louis after earning an associate degree from Cottey College.
She enjoys reading, walking in the garden, enjoying afternoon tea, and spending time with her cat Sawyer, a.k.a. Smushy. She also loves to dance. “I can cut a rug, even if I’m not terribly good.”
