What We Believe
The United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church is a global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world. The United Methodist Church mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Webster Hills is part of the Missouri Annual Conference.
The United Methodist Church affirms the beliefs expressed in the Apostles Creed. These include:
The belief in one God, who is the Creator and sustainer of the universe.
The belief in the Trinity, that there is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is fully human and fully divine.
The UMC believes God's grace is open to all, and therefore practice "open Communion" -- meaning that anyone may participate in receiving Communion. We believe salvation is an open gift from God, accepted by individuals according to their own free will. The UMC believes that God loves all people, and that we share in expressing that love. The denomination is a "big tent" theologically, providing space for theological discourse and, at times, disagreement.
Discipleship at Webster Hills UMC
At Webster Hills, we follow Jesus by seeking to love God, love self and love neighbor.
Discipleship is not about checking spiritual boxes. It is setting our lives to the lifelong rhythm of inner transformation through God’s grace. As our hearts are shaped by God’s love, we grow in faith, humility, hope, and compassion.
Discipleship grows in many directions, but it always circles back to love. We live into this rhythm of love through three movements:
• To connect with God
• To grow God’s love within ourselves
• To serve our neighbors
No matter where you start, they all feed each other. Whether you come with deep faith or lingering questions, with joy or weariness, there is space for your story, gifts, and growth at Webster Hills.
CONNECT | Love God
Transformation unfolds with God’s love poured into our hearts. Loving God is a lifelong, inward renewal by grace. Through both personal devotion and communal worship, we open ourselves to the Spirit’s work of reshaping us from the inside out. Click here to learn how to CONNECT at Webster Hills.
GROW | Love Self
Spiritual Maturity is inseparable from self-awareness, self-compassion, and the healing power of God’s grace. To grow in faith is to love, not just love for God and neighbor, but for your own God-created self. We grow when we make space for reflection, accountability, and holy curiosity. We grow when we are seen, known, and encouraged. Click here to learn ways to GROW at Webster Hills.
